Agni is the Ayurvedic concept used to describe digestion and transformation. Practitioners may discuss appetite, meal tolerance, elimination, energy, and daily rhythm through this traditional lens.

Classical descriptions include balanced, low, sharp, and irregular patterns of Agni. These categories may help structure a conversation about routine and food tolerance, but they are not modern medical diagnoses.

Practical, low-risk habits can include regular mealtimes, eating slowly, choosing foods that are comfortable for the individual, staying adequately hydrated, and noticing how stress and sleep affect digestion.

Persistent pain, vomiting, bleeding, fever, difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss, or a significant change in bowel habit should never be explained away as an Agni imbalance and needs medical assessment.
